My name is Tonja Treece and I run an Etsy shop called Woolly Colorado. I specialize in hand dyed and hand spun yarns and hand knit items. I have been dyeing for about 6 years, mostly with acid dyes, but occasionally natural dyed yarn. In my previous life I was a nurse for 25 years specializing in critical care, but am currently semi-retired running my yarn business. I also run the Western Slope Fibershed focusing on sustainably raised local yarns and education on sustainable textile practices with an emphasis on sustainable, local, and natural textile practices. I currently live in Paonia on the Western Slope, and you can find me all summer selling at the Arbol Farmers’ Market in Paonia.
I’m Elizabeth Simons and I am the owner of ESS Knits. I am passionate about making fun, useful tools for knitting and crochet. I began knitting when I was about 8 years old. My passion for it really sparked when I was in graduate school, traveling all over the nation for work. I found that I love to create special things for those I love and want to share that with the world. I have been designing and making stitch markers since 2022. Currently my acrylic and wood stitch markers are for sale at Maverick Fiber Arts in Lafayette. I am excited to be designing the Hot August Knits stitch markers this year!
Our 2024 Dyer was Road Trip Sock Yarn from Denver, Colorado.
Owner Ali Pate dyes yarn with a purpose. A percentage of sales from the Hot August Knits mini-skeins was donated to charity.
This year we added locally produced stitch markers from Pigbee Creations .
The inaugral mini skein swag was created by Little Squirrel Yarns of Loveland, Colorado.
Little Squirrel dyes small batches of exquisite colors as well as designing and producing fun accessories to help make working with yarn a little more fun.
